Basically, the author posits that Bonds' arm guard gives him a heretofore undisclosed mechanical advantage. Not only does the guard protect his arm, it also acts in such a way as to make his swing more powerful and more consistent. Is this more damning than the alleged steroids abuse? I would say yes.
